Responsible travel

Environment and Responsible tourism is our precedence. It is our company accountability to take care of nature because is the one gives our business’ life and we want to share our Tanzanian beauty to generation after generation. We plant trees to schools located on slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and those surrounding Manyara national park.

Apart from 100% benefiting local community, taking extra ordinary care to our staffs (porters and guides) and care of animal’s welfare, Environment is our precedence. It is our company accountability to take care of nature because is the one gives our business’ life and we want to share our Tanzanian beauty to generation after generation. We plant trees to schools located on slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and those surrounding Manyara national park.

At nearly four miles high, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. A study by the British think tank, the Overseas Development Institute, found that it is visited by between 35,000 and 40,000 tourists every year, making it one of the leading attractions in Tanzania. With such number of tourists if we won’t care about environment in general, few generations to come will not have a chance to see what we enjoy seeing nowadays and for that we will cut their adventurous life.

CHUMIA AFRICAN TRAVEL has adapted from TATU PROJECT an Environment project to primary and secondary schools located on slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and those surrounding Manyara National park. A goal of this project is conserve nature. In the project we provide trainings on how to conserve environment, we established “friends of environment clubs” and we provide trees for planting. Target is to conserve all natural resources in those areas by neutralizing climatic change by planting trees every month. We target schools because:

  • We believe by teaching students is equal to teaching society/number of families.
  • Our project will be sustainable as students (friends of environment clubs) are taking care of the project.
  • We ensure students are surrounded by good natural environment at the same time we conserve our precious Mount Kilimanjaro and our Manyara national park.

This project also support Moshi town youth who established tree nurseries through buying tree from them every month, provide them garden tools every after six months and installing bins to every their nursery. “Let our own benefit our own”. Godwin urio

We aim to plant 10,000 trees on slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and 8000 tree around Manyara National park every year. Be part of our team by travelling with us.
